ABOUT US
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
NGO Management Association (NMA) provides a results-based course programme and consultancy for managers and leaders of non-profit organisations to help them achieving their potential. We also support foundations, government agencies, private enterprises and academia in their projects with non-profit organisations.
VISION & MISSION
We believe that a strong civil society is essential to addressing the root causes of today’s most pressing societal challenges and for finding sustainable solutions. To get there, systemic change is needed. We focus on localisation efforts to close the gap in skills development between North and South.
Vision
NMA’s vision is of a world in which non-profit organisations have the leadership and management capacity to maximise their contribution to social justice and human rights.
Mission
NMA’s mission is to assist non-profit organisations to optimise their performance and impact.
NGO Management Association is working on capacity building in development cooperation and humanitarian aid in the South and the North. NMA's NGO Management School is centred on action-learning with real-life examples and case studies. The participatory approach is based on needs assessments and includes post-course coaching.
History
NMA was set up in 2001 by a group of professionals working in the humanitarian sector in Geneva, Switzerland. The starting point was to help NGOs improving their management capacity and performance by making available free management tools and selected articles on non-profit management.
In 2007, in response to a growing demand by NGOs and individuals for training in NGO management and organisational development, NMA launched the NGO Management School. Test courses were conducted in 2007, and the first in-house and public courses were held in 2008. We have delivered public and in-house courses and consultancies in English, French, Arabic and Spanish in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, including at university level. The first online courses were launched in 2015.
NMA is a registered non-profit organisation in Geneva, Switzerland. See our privacy policy.
